Backing up computer with Time Machine

! was trying to do a backup for my Mac OS 10.6.8 so I can upgrade to OS 10.7. I was using Time Machine. After 12 hours, it still hadn't finished, so I canceled it. I have thousands of documents and pictures. Could it just be slow, or do I have to do something else, other than couble click on the application icon to get it started? It displays on the lower right different dates, including Now.

Thank you. It turned out that the Time Machine had backed up everything (I discovered this when I looked into the backup folder—I had earlier manually copied various files, which threw me off), and then it went into a restore mode, for some reason, instead of telling me it had finished. I don't know how long it took to do the backup.

You are welcome. You really should have 2 or more backups as hard drives do fail. A clone program can give you a second backup.

Clone - Carbon Copy Cloner (Often recommended as it has more features than some others)

Clone – Data Backup

Clone – Deja Vu

Clone - SuperDuper
