display brightness

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro on a MacBook Pro 15 late 2013. The display brightness will randomly change from bright to dark, and then change back to bright again. How can I fix this? I have tried adjusting the screen brightness under the control panel and this does not help.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
