Q: Can't sync new iPhone 5C to iTunes, device times out

Just got a new 5C through Sprint. Salesperson tole me to backup my device to the cloud. I did this, but the contacts on my phone did not all transfer. Now, when I am trying to synch my phone with iTunes. I keep getting an error saying that the new device is timing out.

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.1.1
