Adware/pop ups infection on mac book air - help!

I Have just downloaded virus/adware via glowgaze/g2g movie download site and now have pop up ads all over my mac book air.! Help!

How do I remove these - I am not very sharp when it comes to this sort of thing (obviously!)

I have resisted downlaoding mackeeper type things as I have read these only compound this sort of problem

Any help appreciated

Thanks

It sounds like you have installed some kind of adware, possibly more than one. My Adware Removal Guide will help you find and remove any known adware.

Downloading movies from sites like this is not only illegal, it's also a common source of adware and malware. I'd advise you not to engage in that kind of behavior in the future, or the problem will simply repeat itself.
