Custom Layouts

The Window Arrange Custom layout options are greyed out

I found this archived thread

The suggestion was:

Hold the Option key when you make the selection to set the custom layout.

But no real indication what that means

I tried both holding the option key when Selecting the Menu item..but it still stays greyed out, and also holding the option key while dragging the windows around to create my Custom Layout, but that does not do anything either

How do you get those menu items active?

got it.

My fault completely...I was selecting the Window Menu THEN clicking the ALT key, expecting the menu to change ...Like when you do a Shut down or restart from the Apple logo .

You know..if you go to the Apple Menu, and you hit the Alt key the dots disappear and you get an immediate shutdown WITHOUT THE confirmation dialogue.

Well I was doing the same with the Window Menu...

Nice of Apple to be consistent with how the Menu bar interacts with the Alt key...Press before activating the menu with some menu items, press after you have selected the menu with other items ....grrrr
