You can upgrade your HD and RAM. I am suprised the optical drive is not a superdrive- I suspect this is upgradable as well if you can find one.

If your MacBook is a model identifier MacBook2.1, it may be

an A-1181, given build model year specs in MacTracker.ca

The A-1181 model number covers three years, different EMCs.

{The number you refer to, is the Battery number.}

There are a variety of other hardware upgrade options listed and

linked in a site such as this:

•OWC Laptop Center:

Your older MacBook2.1 model build has limited upgrade specs,

and the hard drive data-rate transfer speed is slower, so to get

a suitable replacement hard disk drive within that spec is best.

Optical drives are listed in the above site, along with other parts.

The Snow Leopard 10.6.8 may be the best OS X system for use

in that old of an early MacBook model. Especially if most of your

applications are older ones that may have PPC code in them;

since the Rosetta utility that is part of Snow Leopard allows them

to still run. A later (10.7.5) upgrade would disallow their function.

Looks as though a slight increase in chip RAM capacity may be

gained, by installing different chips. Some of the early MacBooks

can use only 3GB, others more. Mine is a MB1.1, so 2GB is max.

Crucial and OWC are good sources for compatible upgrade RAM.

Other parts are also worth a look, at OWC.

Hopefully you can update/upgrade it some.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
