iPhone 5 home button fell off!!!

My out of warranty iPhone five has tape around the home button because it fell off! Apple support told me that they have never heard of this before and when I asked them how do I fix this, they told me to Google it. Is there a replacement piece for the little cheap circle and how can it be fixed? Tape around the iPhone is not very classy! Help!!!

The iPhone is not user servicable. In other words, technically, you can't fix it yourself.

You can hire an authorized third party Apple Service Professional to repair it for you, you could possibly pay Apple for an "out of warranty repair", or you could search Google for sources like iFixIt where you can find videos and purchase some parts to do the work yourself. Keep in mind that if you do try to fix it yourself, Apple can decline you from future "out of warranty repairs" on that device...

Did you ever get this fixed? My home button fell off and my insurance deductible for a new one is $199. Trying to find a cheaper option.

Thanks!

The only options that can be discussed in any detail here are the Apple approved options. If you don't want house Apple's authorized service providers and pay the relevant fee, then you'll have to use Google to find an alternative solution. Be advised that since the iPhone is not user serviceable, any service done by an unauthorized person or facility voids all Apple related support, and may also void your insurance support.

I'm sorry, but $200 is not full price for a replacement device, an out of warranty replacement for the iPhone 5 is $269. Also, check to see if your device is one that qualifies for the Home Button replacement program. https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-sleepwakebutton/ You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have them look at it. Apple has the final say as to what and how hardware device problems are dealt with.

Kristin never said she had an iPhone 5. She likely has an iPhone 4S if she was quoted $199 by Apple.

And the Sleep/Wake Button replacement program doesn't have anything to do with the Home Button.
