Q: Freezing & slow after update

After updating my computer with this it constantly lags and freezes. I don't have multiple apps open and have sufficeint space on my computer, it doesn't make sense for my computer to suddenly be this slow and freeze constantly. Does anyone have any suggestions for why this is happening or how I can fix it?

MacBook Air, iOS 7.1.1

    The startup disk may need repairing ...

     

     

    Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities

     

    Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.

     

    Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)

     

    If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.

     

    Make sure to back up all important files first before using OS X Recovery.

     

    OS X Recovery does require a broadband high speed internet connection.
