Apr 27, 2014 11:41 PM in response to Pirkoby Carolyn Samit,For a slow startup try troubleshooting login and startup items.
Open System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
and go to /Library/StartupItems. Move any items you see in the StartupItems folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac to test.
If that didn't help the startup time, might be a good time to check the startup disk.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important files first before using OS X Recovery.
OS X Recovery does require a broadband high speed internet connection.

I don't see the First Aid tab - it only gives me an option of restarting in target disk mode.
Please help.
Grey screen on now for 2.5 mins before startup.
