Hello, I'm new here. I lost my iPad and tracking it now via iCloud but it says offline. I'm afraid the thief/finder has done a factory reset on it. It doesn't have a passcode. I just want to know if iCloud can still track a lost/stolen iPad if the thief/finder has done a factory reset on it. I really don't know what to do. This is my first time losing such gadget. Any replies will be much appreciated.

As of now, iCloud says it is offline. So I clicked the "Lost Mode" and it will be in that mode once it connects to the internet.
Lock your iPad and leave the contact telephone number.
If your device is running iOS7 then the person that finds it can't wipe it (unless you left your Apple ID on a sticky note in the case or something)
iOS7 brought with it the activation lock which requires the original owner's Apple ID to fully reset the device.
So in order for the thief to fully reset the iPad, it will need the apple id and password associated with the owner. Even if the iPad doesn't have a passcode?
Yep. Now the lack of a passcode does mean that they have access to anything on that iPad....e-mails, data, etc. So you should consider changing passwords for any accounts on there, just in case the person that finds it has bad intentions
Ah Yes Thank you. Now all I have to do is wait for it to connect and let iCloud locate my iPad. And now I'm not worrying anymore if the finder wants to reset it.
If you have remote lock the iPad, he/she cannot do anything with iPad.
It's still offline. So it says "Pending: Lost Mode"
The moment the iPad is turned on and connected to the internet, it will be locked.
And the location will be shown, right? I have a feeling I can still get my iPad back. 😀

If he slide to unlock, he will be asked for the passcode.
Once iPad is turned on and connected to internet, you should receive an email giving you the rough location of your iPad.
