Hello guys,
my iMac (mid 2011), wich I have 2 or 3 years now randomly started to get very hot on the top and on the backside of the desktop, it's so hot, that you can touch it only a few seconds without feeling pain. But the rest of the iMac works fine, I don't use it so much, that it could overheating.

It's natural for an iMac to get warm but not so much that it cauees pain to the touch.
Try not running multiple apps at the same time and see if that makes a difference.

not really, yestreday I watched only a movie and only the application for this was open, after the film (2 1/2 hours) it started to get hot, like I wrote in the description.
Try a SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.
