my screen shows square blocks

My home screen is showing square blocks and won't allow me to swipe. If I doiuble tap, I'm able to get verylimited function. Does anyone know hoe to fix this?

I didn't drop it or anythinmg. Just woke up and took it off the charger to find it this way.
