Q: iOs 7.1.1 Crashed my iPhone 4s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apple what in the **** has become of your company and software? Are you in a race with Microsoft to create the worst software imaginable? Are you taking short cuts or outsourcing incompetent work for elsewhere? Whatever you are doing please stop, PLEASE! I miss the old days when my phone was the best technology I had ever used. Ever since ios 7 your software gets worse and worse with every update. Now I've spent my entire morning trying to trouble shoot what should have been a very simple update to make my phone better. Oh was I mistaken. Now my phone is in system restore mode, I've likely lost everything, and even worse I cannot seem to locate it to restore in my itunes account. Apparently my phone longer exists. I cannot call customer service because my phone is inoperable. I cannot chat with customer service because I cannot locate my serial number since my phone is now inoperable. Now I have to spend my entire morning becoming a software expert to fix my phone that your software has yet again damaged! Get it together please, this is getting ridiculous. Steve Jobs would be so disappointed to see what has become of his wonderful company. Subpar, very subbpar people!!!!!

Slow down there chief. Bad installs have plagued every phone and computer from every software maker since the beginning of the computer era. Apple is not somehow immune to this. There are so many factors at play that can cause an install or update to go bad that no one could possibly account for all of them. There will always be a small number of folks that expereince issues with new updates when they come out, always. This is the way of computing life.

The biggest thing you can do to prevent loss of data in these situations is always backup. If you have not been systematically backing up throughout the life of the phone then data loss is on you. Apple provides two incredibly convienient options (iCloud and iTunes) for backing up, and even automatically turns on the iCloud backup option by simply logging in to iCloud or turning it on for the first time. Should you have backed up by either method recently, sometimes which happens without the user even knowing, then you haven't lost any/much data.

Assuming you haven't messed with you SIM tray, the serial number is located on that. Use a small paperclip to eject it from the right edge of the phone.

While your phone may not be operable, you can contact Apple support through the http://getsupport.apple.com website. You should be able to perform a simple restore of the device, recover data from your backup and have your phone back up and running as it was before in a matter of minutes.

This is Critical for a software update to crash a phone and require a complete restore would alert most Manufarctures to PULL THIS OFF THE MARKET.  Not this company we are going to continue to allo wit to be downloaded and destroy peoples phones.  I have been an Iphone user for a very long time but this is the last straw.  My entire phone music is gone and has to be restored.  All apps had to be restored.  I am not sure the total consequences yet.  I do know this - THIS IS CRAP.  If i am going to to get crap i will go to an andriod and just deal with it....APPLE has not shown they will be any different in the end.
