Entourage giving I/O Error

Hi,

My Entourage is keep giving me an I/O Error starting a few days ago....the only thing that makes it work is to uninstall it and then reinstalling it and it will work for another day or so, the issue is that I backed up my Microsoft Data Folder so I wont lose my emails etc. but when I try to import (this is backed up when I didn't had any issues)it keep tells me that the rules are orrupt, or the mailing lists, or anything else that I have in my settings!!!!
Is there a fix for this? is it my hard drive/ because usually on my PC if I get an I/O Error t is usually the hard drive failing or failed!
On the Mac I have this issue since I bought it where after a while it crashed, kills all my settings everything, I had to zero it out not to long ago and now this!

Help!

Thank you,

Lucia

Try starting Entourage while holding down the option key. That should bring up a dialog box asking if you want to rebuild the database file. While rebuilding it the program will attempt to repair it.

Also, check your hard drive for errors by booting off your system CD and running Disk Utility. In fact I would do this first before rebuilding the database. the problem could be with your hard drive. Make sure it is o.k. before doing the rebuild of the database. A corrupted file system on the drive could worsen the database problem.

Incidentally, I found this information in less time than it took me to type it here simply by using Entourage's built in help files. I typed the word Database in the search box and the suggestions I am making was the first one that came up. 🙂
