what is igmp snooping

Hello, I am learning some new informaiton about my Airport Extrememe and I am curious as to why I should or should not check the box for igmp snooping, any help would be appreciated? Thanks in advance, AppleCoreU

It has to do with streaming.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IGMP_snooping

If you use streaming from internet, then check snooping to help the router handle streams. If you don't stream then it is better not to check it as it will reserve bandwidth for non-existent streams.
