Wireless printers require a wireless network, or an ad-hoc network between your Mac and the printer. Research that as an option.

A wireless network requires a router and a wireless access point (two separate devices), or a wireless router (a single device) such as an Apple AirPort Extreme, Express, or Time Capsule.

Another option may be to connect your printer to the Mac with a USB cable. Most wireless printers also have that ability.

Broadband Internet is optional, and unrelated to one's network.
