Q: New HDD not recognized

Hi, I just have installed a new HDD (WD5000AAKX) on my machine, but it doesn't found it! So I've connected it externally using a sATA/USB2 kit, then erased, formatted in HFS+ and Apple partition map then, using installing disk, restored the entire Time Machine backup. Nothing to do: it doesn't boot from the new one, it just can read and write via USB, but not booting, while Utility Disk shows the new HDD is bootable...I do also have inserted a jump as indicated from the productor...

I hope my english is still fresh, so I'll be waiting any helpful answer.

Grazie!

Most new hard drives use a much faster SATA bus than the old iMac G5 had.  They usually required the jumper to be set a certain way to support the slower bus speeds of the G5, if they worked at all internally. If I remember there also was a fan sensor to attach to the drive.

Hi, it's all true, I've repaired this machine a few times and surfing on the net I just have known that this machine should boot via usb also. The jumper has been set but no boot via usb and the sensor (for drive's temperature) is connected...maybe have to be install once again to confirm...

Finally has gone! I've booted calling startup manager, rebooted twice and it looks working.

Hoping will be helpful, thanks for your interest.
