Enhanced Podcasts

We have been working hard to develop our iTunes U site this summer. For the most part we have been very excited about it even with the bugs and delays. We are at the beginning of building content and have examples of all three types - audio only, enhanced, and video podcasts.

HOWEVER, it is really disappointing that an Enhanced Podcast cannot be seen without first downloading it!

My college has the opportunity to make many enhanced podcasts based on art history lectures with numerous historical images of art through the ages. This kind of podcast will make up a major part of our content.

As a further annoyance, when one chooses an enhanced podcast simply from a website and iTunes is the default player, the enhanced podcast is immediately viewable.

PLEASE APPLE, I highly encourage you to make viewing Enhanced Podcasts as simple as viewing a video podcast!

Agreed.

Another bug that makes life difficult is that iPods don't display the enhanced podcasts very well. The first problem is that they do not allow the images to fill the entire screen. Also, the iPods don't buffer the images very well, so when the image changes, the image goes blank for a couple of seconds, and then the next image pops up. This is problematic if you are showing lots of images in rapid succession to coincide with the audio.
