Are you sure they're question marks and not exclamation marks?
Anyway, if all plug-ins have these marks and there's no audio in your project, it means Core Audio's not working.
Try switching to the compuer's built-in audio card in the preferences and apply changes (or simply close the preferences window).

For some reason I upgraded the driver last year but haven't checked this year.
I noticed I have been using driver V1.7.2. so I'm using V1.7.3 now...
hopefully that will make a difference 🙂

Check the "Core Audio" box in Logic's audio preferences.

That's something I had a look at and it was already checked.
Sorry, they are exlamation marks.
If I close Logic and reopen it seems to sort it, but usually the first opening shows the orange exclation marks and no audio.
Probably an issue with your audio interface/its driver. What are you using?

It's happened again!
Does it happen at all with the computer's built-in sound card? If it doesn't then it seems your audio interface doesn't get along very well with Mavericks (or OSX in general).

It has been ok for the last year with my soundcard so I suspect it's because of trying demo plugins recently.
