Apple TV and Bose soundlink mini

Last week, I was running Youtube on the Apple TV in airplay and I was using my Bose mini link speakers for audio.

I don't remember what I did, and I have been unable to reproduce it so far but it can be done.

The soundlink mini is a bluetooth speaker. Apple TV requires an airplay capable speaker, like the Soundlink Air.

Also, you can't airplay audio and video separately.

You can use 3.5 male to male cable to connect from apple TV to bose min.

Is it really that much of an issue that someone responded to an old post? When investigating on the internet, it's sometimes invaluable to have recent updates on threads. Regardless of the fact that this particular response was completely useless.

For anyone else searching for a way to connect Bose Soundlink Mini II to AppleTV... the 4th Gen AppleTV supports bluetooth accessories, and should link to Bose speakers.

If you didn't necessarily need wireless connectivity you could also purchase a HDMI audio splitter which would provide an audio connection to plug directly into the Bose (or any other) system.

You can use an 1/8" male-to-male TRS audio cable to connect a Display/TV/Projector to the bluetooth speaker.

That is how I do it.

Once a glitch happened to my Apple TV 3 where the audio did go to the speaker via bluetooth, yet the image streamed to my display.

Only the 4th Gen works with bluetooth speakers, the 2nd and 3rd Gen only work with external speakers via airplay or connected via optical
