I somehow lost the default display setting on my macbook pro 15" osx 10.6.8. How do i restore those settings?

i would hate to have to go that far. I was recklessly searching alt.key stroke symbols and accidentally changed the display resolution. Now the scale is way too large and awkward, even when choosing the highest resolution 1440x900
I am assuming that you have opened System Preferences>Displays and tried the various settings.
What happens when you press CONTROL and perform a verticle two finger drag on the trackpad?

A reinstall of the OSX would restore the default settings, but if were to provide more details what you see as your problem, perhaps a less aggressive solution may be found.

Ummm, Now I feel really stupid! The 2 finger trackpad drag resolved my problem.
