Q: How can I set up hotspot

I just purchased an iphone 5c through Verizon.  The Verizon website is no help in setting up a hotspot, since the tutorial says go to cellular/hotspot.  When I go to settings/cellular and click on "Set up a personal hotspot" a window pops up giving me choices to go the www site or call.  As mentioned, the www site shows screens not present on my 5c.  I tried calling and after navigating the phone tree I got disconnected by the listener.

 

Is there a www site that explains how to set up a hotspot?  Is there something that I need to enable through Verizon?

Make sure your data plan through Verizon supports personal hotspot.  You might consider contacting them and asking.

    Yep.  I called them and my plan doesn't include hotspot.

     

    Seems that a simple notification on the settings page or the Verizon www site could have eliminated my question.  I think their primary objective is selling you a service upgrade rather than answering your question.

    Yes, I understand.

     

    Hotspot capability generally costs a bit extra, but you would think that the cellular carriers would make it easy for you to find out this fact, as well as find out the cost.  It seems difficult to figure this out from American cellular carriers in general to me - I'm with a different carrier and found it challenging to figure out how to upgrade to a hotspot-capable plan.
