Q: I just purchased an iphone 5s and want to transfer my itunes from my mac to new phone.How do I accomplish this? I tried downloading itunes 11.1 but itunes wont recoginize the updated version and tells me version 10 is still operating? Please help. Thanks

Greetings this evening, I just purchased an iphone 5s and want to transfer some of my itunes from my mac running 10.6.7 to my new iphone 5s.I downloaded version 11.1 from the itunes website,restarted my computer but it wont recoginize the new 11.1 version which it tells me I need to sync songs from mac to 5S.Even though I downloaded version11.1 it still says I'm running version 10? How can I get my itunes from my mac onto my new phone and have them in itunes on the phone? Love my music! Thank You !

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.1, running mac osx 10.6.7

The issue is OS X 10.6.7. You need an absolute minimum of OS X 10.6.8 to run iTunes 11.

At a minimum, update OS X. Better, if you can do it, would be to upgrade to a later OS X. Current is 10.9.2 (Mavericks).

You have to update to 10.6.8 first.

Then, if your machine qualifies, this explains how to get Mavericks:

So if you will,how do I go from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 ? I'll try what ever For now I'm emailing each tune itunes to my phone emaill where I can listen to it from email but would like to put into itunes on phone. Is there some way to get email tunes to itunes on phone by dragging ?

Get to 10.6.8 by clicking on the Apple icon in the menu bar and choosing "Software Update".

I don't understand your email question, but the need to do that should disappear once you're at 10.6.8.
