No, they are rarely a factor. Plastic, rubber or slicone don't significantly attenuate cellular signals.

An absolute fact, it effected it the whole time it was fitted - and quite dramatically as well.
With case,a signal of 1 bar on the phone,
without a case, signal demonstating full bars on the phone, I know what I'm talking about here as I had tried a number of things prior to this
I would that that the case was not made of plastic or rubber or silicone either it was more of an aluminium feel to it
I went into various phone shops to discuss and no-one in the shops had any real interest in trying to solve the problem - just in trying to sell you another phone right
