Setting up Exchange (Hotmail) email account on Mail

Hotmail is not an exchange account (on a Mac or a PC), this will never work.

It can be setup as Imap or POP, your choice.

Imap,

Here are the settings.

For incoming connections:

• Server address: "imap-mail.outlook.com"
• Server port: "993"
• Encryption type: "SSL"

For outgoing connections:

• Server address: "smtp-mail.outlook.com"
• Server port: "587"
• Encryption type: "TLS" ("SSL" can be used if TLS is not an option)

I have the same issue but your advice doesn't work for me 😟

I have 2 hotmail accounts and have set them both up successfully into Mail. However, I only see what's in the Inbox, I can't see any of the sub-folders & these are important to me.

A bit disappointed they didn't automatically display when I set up the accounts in Mail.

You have set them up incorrectly, they are setup as POP accounts and they should be Imap accounts.

I deleted the mailboxes then recreated them - this time they were automatically set up as IMAP (OS X did not give me the option to choose the first time around)
