Does the AC Adapter have a long power cord, so the MagSafe does not
hang on the wall by the original connector, which is insufficient to hold
the MagSafe power adapter snugly and completely plugged-in at times?
For my portable Macs, I use the long power cord, and don't use the small
head plug device, as those can come out of the wall socket. The AC cord
that replaces the small head part, offers greater tension in the wall socket.
And the weight of the entire AC Adapter is not on those power prongs.
Could be the adapter is OK. Some wall sockets get worn and may not hold
the weight of the adapter, but can hold a standard cord. You can tweak the
prongs on the longer cord's plug to get them to hold, in a weak wall socket.
Just guessing. There is a page at Apple Support about MagSafe adapter
issues, replacements, and the correct extra-long power-in cord.

Given the proprietary magnetic connector on the DC-out end of MagSafe
you aren't likely to find a clone copy of these adapters out there. So to
get a replacement be sure to get one suited for your computer.
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
