Export pictures from iMessage to iPhoto??

It seems that drag & drop pictures (that I received from my contacts) from iMessage to iPhoto is the only way to import these pictures into iPhoto?

- There is no context menue option?

- And although it is possible to mark/highlight two (or more) pictures in a thread only a single one will transfer?

I am running Mavericks 10.9.2 on a iMac.

Is there a hidden option or something that I could not find?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

On an iphone you click on the picture that has been sent to you in imessage (until it is just the picture on screen with done in the top left hand corner) then you press the share/upload icon in the bottom left hand corner. There will be a button at the bottom which says "save image". Press that and it will have saved into your iphoto.

Thanks for sharing but Note - this thread is over three years old and is not about an iPhone but is about iPhoto for the Mac

What is the problem with simply dragging the photos from the message to the iPhoto icon? Is your concern, that you want to import mutiple photos at once into the same event?

Then drag or copy and paste the photos first from Messages to a folder on your Desktop and then drag this folder all at once to the iPhoto icon.

Thanks, Leonie. Yes, I want to place multiple pictures from iMessage into one event.

Your suggestion with an "intermediate Finder folder" reduces the "click work" to reach the goal.

The problem with simply dragging is that this needs to happen one-by-one for getting the pictures out of iMessage. However, Terence is right that it is a bug of iMessage that selecting several pictures and attempting to drag them affects/drags only a single picture.
