Q: Unable to add server. This computer is already using [server] or a matching replica - Mavericks

Hi!

I'm still trying to set up OS X Server Mavericks on my Mac Mini (mid 2010). When trying to bind clients to server (I've been following

Todd Olthoff's tutorials) I get stuck (again) and receive the following messge:

"Unable to add server. This computer is already using [server] or a matching replica"

As I mentioned on a previous question, the main goal is to access the Mac Mini and the drives attached from an external network to access the contents and have backups of the work I do with my MacBook.

Any clues to solve that? Thanks a million and in advance!

I wanted to attempt to answer your question so I opened my user and group...got surprised...my MacBook Pro had unbound it self from the server. I am not sure what's going...I am concluding that there is a bug with this Network User/Open directory. This is the second time I have had issues.

I would suggest to delete the replica and start over. I have had to do that after the upgrade to 3.1.

Okay, it seems when I had bound my MacBook Pro to the server I had used a wired connection. So now connected wirelessly, I had the router's DNS and not the server's. Changed that and it is all good.

In your case, you might need to follow this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5289

When you recreate Open Directory, make sure the client's DNS is the server and you should be good.

Hi Ralston and thanks for the attempt.

What replica are you talking about? I've created no replica of anything. I had a prior issue with the LDAP where the message was "Unable to load replica" but I was able to wipe the Open Directory and create a master.

I'm creating the server from scatch, so no migration or replica. Thanks anyway!
