Q: I have an iPhone 4 (Verizon) and I do not see any place to remove a SIM card. The phone died during an OS upgrade with error message 4005.

During an upgrade of of my iPhone 4 to OS 7.1.1 it stopped mid upgrade with the USB sync cable and Apple ICON on the screen and a 4005 error message on iTunes. Now the phone will never proceed past the above screen when powering up and iTunes does not reconize it.

The Verizon-model iPhone 4 is a CDMA phone and has no SIM. You can only use that phone with Verizon.

As to the 4005 error, perhaps this will help:
