flv codec for quicktime

I am looking for an flv codec for quicktime. I used to have one, but unfortunately it seems lost. Where does Mavericks hide the additional codecs?

Thanks for helping.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 10 GB

Use the Perian codec package.

I used to have one, but unfortunately it seems lost.

It is more likely that you are trying to use it with QT X v10.3 which no longer accesses system third-party configured codecs via the QT 64-bit structure embedded in Mac OS X. I.e., QT X v10.3 now uses its own dedicated AVFoundation embedded structure. (Check to see if Perian is still installed, re-install latest version if needed; download, install, and use the QT 7 Player for FLV playback.)

Where does Mavericks hide the additional codecs?

Third-party codecs for universal use are normally stored in the boot drive "~/Library/QuickTime" folder.

If you don't need to use a QT player, you can install the VLC multimedia player which includes its own codec support (FFmpeg) for the viewing of FLV and AVI files that are not supported natively by QT or QL.
