Rebate :(

I've been an Apple customer since 1976. This is the only time I can recall such lousy service from this company.

1. Mailed Aperture rebate for in on 5/25/06, and have heard nothing in over 3 months.

2. I finally mailed a snail mail letter to the rebate offices in South Bend... but a few days later the envelope was returned undeliverable to that address.

How does one go about speaking with a person in the rebate program? Apple is certainly keeping either a low profile on this if they are handling the fullfillment internally, or working with a mediocore rebate fullfillment outfit.

Rich,

I agree that this rebate has been mismanaged. Stories abound of outsourced companies managing this for Apple, lost applications, 'incorrect' serial numbers, non-payment of rebate and yes the odd rebate. I returned mine within 2 weeks of it starting (due to slow UK readyness), still nothing back.

Either this is a rebate or its a sham. There needs to be Apple accountability allowing entitled Customers to receive their credit. Nothing worse than being offered free money only to have your hands tied.

I see the logic of making this difficult to claim, and they've tried, but dont loose the goodness of the gesture. It was a very good thing Apple did back in the spring.

the rebate center in South Bend does a LOT of company's rebates.

I've never been denied a rebate unless I messed up (mailed it too late).

If people would actually read the instructions, they would get their rebate unless the postal gremlins got it.

I don't like all the hoops one has to go through to get a rebate, but I would rather follow it than not get my rebate.

BTW, i received my voucher within about 2 weeks of mailing it in. there is an 800 # and a website to check on your rebate. If you wait 3 months after the rebate program ended, you are gonna be SOL.

Two questions...

1. Can someone tell me the subject line or some other textual information in the 'rebate email' so that i might search for such a letter.

2. IF it did arrive, and was sent to Junk or deleted, is there someone to contact so that I might receive another copy of the rebate?

Thanks - but still, very unprofessional of Apple to produce a 'rebate' in such a flimsy form as an email. The guy who set this program up should be demoted. A letter (yes REAL PAPER rebate) would have been much better overall, imho.

I had a similar problem, where I sent in my Aperture rebate in May, but never heard back. It turns out that on the bottom of the Aperture Rebate pdf, hidden in the small text, there is a url to go to to check the status of your rebate:

http://www.apple.com/promo/rebate/status.html

If it can't find your rebate status it gives you a phone number to call:

(888) 764-4617

The people at this number were very friendly and helpful. It turned out that they had entered my email address wrong, so I never got the rebate email. Once this was cleared up I got the rebate email coupon a couple of days later. Do this soon because the coupon is only good until Sep. 30th.

Also, when you call, check to make sure they have the correct email address for you. The first time I called, they checked and said they had sent it, so I asked them to send it again. When nothing showed up after a week, I realized that they probably had my email wrong and that was why the coupon never showed up in the first place, so I called back and sure enough that was the problem.

The whole rebate thing is a scam IMO. Sent in rebate properly, and they denied cause they said I purchased items on different days. That was not true - I bought them on the same day - they invoiced me on different days, prob on purpose to deny the rebate; a complete waste of time. They want to make it as hard as possible and not pay out any money.
