Changing headings automatically in Pages

I can't number headings in pages automatically.

I have to write a document and in this I need to number my headings, but as fare as I see, it's not possible.

I want to have my chapters like this:

-------------------------------

1. Heading

Text.

1.1 Heading

Text.

1.2 Heading

Text.

1.2.1 Heading

Text.

1.3 Heading

Text.

2. Heading

Text.

2.1 Heading

Text.

-------------------------------------------

and so on

and I have no idea how to make this.

I would really appreciate it, if anyone could help my with my problem.

PS it is possible by hand but if I want to put a heading between two headings it will not change automatically.

And if is not possible do anyone know if apple makes this possible in the next update?
