Powerpoint - slide not expanding to full screenblk borders on sides

I bought a new Mac Book for doing powerpoint presentations. Just uploaded the software and configured the computer and started working on the final touches to my presentations however there are two black margins / edges on each side of the powerpoint slide show.This is a problem for me as it makes the presentation look bad.
On all other Macs and PC's the full screen of the presentation can be viewed.
Is there something that I can download to fix the template so that the the presentation can be viewed in full screen?

Hi, Paul&Les. The black bars appear because the Powerbook has a wide-screen aspect ratio and your PowerPoint presentation does not. When PP automatically adjusts the size of its presentation to fill the height of your PB's display in pixels, the presentation's proportional width in pixels is too small to fill the display.

You may be able to resolve the issue satisfactorily by changing the display resolution in System Preferences>Displays to one of the "Stretched" settings. In this mode the Macbook's video circuitry interpolates extra pixels into the width (only) of the image to create a wider image that fills the display. What appears on your Powerbook's display may also be affected by connecting a projector to the PB, so if you're doing that, there's a whole range of additional variables to get a grip on.

Note that you've posted your question in a forum devoted to questions about the now nine-year-old Mac OS 8.x, when it isn't apparent that the issue you're having is related in any way to OS 8. In future you may do better to post your questions in more germane forums, such as the ones devoted specifically to MacBooks or OS X 10.4.x.
