Q: Device linked to old iCloud apple id

I changed my apple id to my new e-mail address, however, I had failed to sign out of iCloud before changing my apple id.  I can't delete my iCloud account on the device because it keeps asking for the password to the old apple id.  I no longer have access to the old e-mail address.  Does anyone know how I can delete the old iCloud account?
