I want to clean out my inbox by moving unopened mail to spam or trash. Is there a way to do this easily?

Mac Pro (Early 2008), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), I use Mac Mail

If the e-mails are in order (next to each other), select one and then hold down the shift key to select others. If they aren't in order, hold down the command key while selecting. Then hit the delete key.
