cannot send photos from iPhoto

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it

OR

IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

Mail has more templates - look at stationary - in any case I use Mail so if the basic suggestion does not work and you do not want to use Mail I can't help

I am on an iMac running the same sytem and iPhoto version and am having the same problem. I'm using my roadrunner email account settings exactly as they appear in my Apple mail client and get the "Your email did not go through because the server did not reply." message. I've deleted and reentered the account in iPhoto, but it didn't change anything.

I've been working around this problem for years, but I shouldn't have to. I want to be able to email from iPhoto. What else can I try?

Either contact RoadRunner Tech suport and have them walk you throught the set up or use Mail

I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Apple Support the week before last trying to get this sorted. We deleted email accounts, changed settings, removed and reloaded iPhoto - all without success. Really annoyin. Thought it was just me but obviously the whole thing just does not work.

It works just fine - litterally Millions and Millions and Millions of people send email daily using iPhto and Mail - you have a problem - but unless you do yoru part by providing details no one can help - pisting complaints gets on one any place

So glad it is working for you Larry. Obviously there are other people it is not working for either from the thread. I will just use Mail to send photos which works. Apple Support could not sort my issue.

It works for me and millions and millions of people - you are one of a very, very small number that have something wrong with your account or your machine or your procedures causing a problem unique to you - sorry it is not working for you - but your chices are to fix it or do a work around using Mail - personally I prefer mail and use it but if you prefer the iPhoto client it works too

Using iPhoto as my mail selection, I too get the same server error when trying to email out of iPhoto using my iCloud account. I can send out of iPhoto using my roadrunner account, but not my iCloud. There are also a lot of people this does not work for.

It works fine when sending using the Mail as my email preference, but when I use iPhoto as my email preference, iCloud does not work at all.

Use this for your SMPTE outgoing mail server in the settings of the iCloud account:

smtp.mail.me.com

After doing this, switch to the iPhoto as your mail preference (instead of Mail) in the general screen, and test it out.

This fixed my issues after I kept getting an error with the server when email photos from iPhoto. Once I manually added the correct outgoing server to iPhoto for my iCloud account, it worked fine.

Log into another user account on your Mac and see if you can email from iPhoto from that account.

Hi, I am trying to troubleshoot a problem on a friend's iMac, running Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1. When I try to share a photo by email, the 'to' address keeps disappearing, so the message fails to send. This is using Mail as the client.

So if you enter an email address and then add text, the email address field is now blank. If you fill it in again and go to press Share, it again disappears. Sharing to Facebook etc is working fine and Mail program works fine independently of iPhoto.

Anyone else experienced this, or have any suggestions as to what to do?

This is using Mail as the client.

I'd ask that on the Using Mac OS X forum for 10.9 as it's a problem with Mail.app not iPhoto.
