Q: iPad doesn't recognize Lightning SD Card Reader to get photos into album

I purchased a Lightning SD Card Reader to transfer pictures taken with Nikon camera onto iPad; iPad doesn't recognize the card reader?

iPad 2, iOS 7.1.1
