Q: I have 10.6.8 but Mavericks still won't install
Hi, I have an older iMac sure, OS version 10.6.8, but when I go to the Apple store and try and upgrade to Mavericks, I get an error message saying basically "Can't install on this computer". Any thoughts? Everything I've read about system requirements appears to be ok. I think 10.6.8 is the last version you should be able to upgrade from.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
- iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
Computer Compatibility - Lion Lion
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
