image capture can find connectede scanner

If Image Capture can find the scanner ...

Launch Image Capture located in your Applications folder.

Connect the scanner to your Mac whether Wi-Fi or USB.

Click the very small black box bottom left side of the Image Capture window.

You'll see this pop up menu:   Connecting this (device) opens:

You can select a default app to scan (Image Capture) and select a folder from the Import To pop up menu on the right to save scanned files to.

If you need help with the Image Capture software, click Help from the Image Capture menu bar.

    Hello malkush,

To add to the excellent advice the Carolyn Samit has provided. If you are still having difficulties with scanning, I would suggest resetting the print system, as well verifying and repairing the disk permissions.

To start off with the reset of the printing system, I have included the document 'OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system'. Now at this time you will not want to re-add your printer.

After the reset of the print system has completed, you will now need to complete the verify and repair of the disk permissions. I have included the document 'Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions'. For step 3, the disk you want to check is your hard drive. (ie. Macintosh HD, or Hitachi). Once the process has completed, please restart your Mac.

Now when the Mac has completely restarted, please add your printer back to the print queue. I have included the steps below if you need them.

    1. Click on the Apple Icon

    2. Click on System Preferences

    3. Click on Printers and Scanners

    4. Click on the Plus sign in the bottom left corner

    5. Click on the Default tab, and then click on your printer

    6. Part way down the page you should see an option for Use:, please make sure that the printer software is selected, and not AirPrint

    7. Click Add

After the printer has been added back to the print queue, please close down the windows, and check for any updates that are available. I have included the steps below for checking for software updates.

    1. Click on the Apple Icon

    2. Click on Software Updates

    3. Install all updates that are available

If you are still experiencing the same issue, after all the troubleshooting steps. Please post back with the manufacturer of your printer, as well the product number of your printer. If you do have an HP printer, I have included the document 'Guide to finding your product number'.

    Hope this helps!

I work on behalf of HP.
