Apps are forever tied to the account under which they were purchased and cannot be transferred. Your children need to continue to use your Apple ID for the iTunes & App Store but their own for iMessages and Facetime.

Thank you. Does the same apply to purchased music? Also, can I separate iCloud account from the Apple Store account ID? Many thanks.

Yes.

On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.
