mine is a mac pro4, 1 2x2.26ghz early 2009 quad-core intel xeon ddr3 +20 gb1066mhz and do not come out error messages, just nothing comes out, there is no evidence for the presence instead as the other cameras that connect. Try another USB port on the Mac.
Try another cable from your Sony.
Try a card reader.

Sony has put in a position that the camera was connected with their software called PlayMemories Home . This then allows you to import movies and photos on the computer and then use them in different ways. Be sure you are using the version of Sony PlayMemories that is compatible with Mavericks:

Make sure the AX100 USB Connect setting is MTP (not Auto, not Mass Storage). Then use the USB cable on the AX100 and import directly to FCP X.
