Somebody chucked a box of ketchup on me, some of it went on the side of my iPhone 5 screen. I was so upset to look at it so someone cleaned it with tissue. It's not on the screen anymore but it smells of ketchup. The phone is working but can there be any problems?

There can be problems if the ketchup got inside but as long as it is working right now...take a clean microfiber cloth, dampen a little but make sure it is not wet, just moist. Wipe the screen but be careful to stay away from the home button and speaker for the ear at the top. Wipe very carefully and do not get water in any of the sides. Use the microfiber cloth to dry it immediately.
Not unless some got inside the ports - Lightning and headset, which could lead to internal corrosion.
it smells of ketchup.
