Q: How do I download the Mac App store for version  10.6.8

if you select Applications in the sidebar of a Finder window, does it not show “App Store.app” as one of the apps in that folder? That should have been installed when you ran Software Update to get to Mac OS X 10.6.8.

To update the Mac OS X, if you meet the specs for Mavericks given in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842 you can go to the Mac App Store, search on Mavericks, then download Mavericks for free and install.

Krauterco's problem sounds like the one I'm having: The App Mac Store is not installed and in fact is damaged on my computer.  Therefore if we can't get to the App Mac Store how can we download Maverick?  We need to be able to download just the Store App.  What came first, the chicken or the egg?  It is a conundrum wrapped in an enigma.  I am running 10.6.8.
