Can you explain this in more detail? What is bvi?

You mean the location for built products? There is no defined location for it. You can't fight Xcode. If you are happy with a product then you can archive it to export it out of Xcode.
Hi
I needed find as it's within:
/Users/mike/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/...
how to change the path for the compiled product?

I strongly suggest learning how Xcode works before attempting to hack it up. Xcode is designed to work the way it is designed. You can dig into advanced options and change them all you want, but you are really going off on your own.

Interesting concept but I'll stick with 0xED.
You can change Xcode's default derived data location using Xcode's Locations preferences. Choose Xcode > Preferences in Xcode to access Xcode's preferences.
To change the derived data location for a single project, choose File > Project Settings in Xcode.
