May 4, 2014 9:08 AM in response to SGIIIby W1nter_mute,Filter is something different. It can be useful, but I need grouping - ability to roll up different rows under one.
It looks like there is no way to group rows in Numbers.

May 4, 2014 2:05 PM in response to W1nter_muteby Jerrold Green1,That's called Categories in Numbers. Numbers V3 was built without that capability, but Numbers V2 has it. Downgrade and you're good to go.

May 4, 2014 5:41 PM in response to W1nter_muteby SGIII,Are you referring to the "Group and Outline" functionality by that name in Excel. Or perhaps tables.
You can come close the the capability of pivot tables in Numbers by using SUMIFS and COUNTIFS:
A big advantage is that you can then use the results in the summary table to create charts, something you can't do with the old Numbers categories.
And filtering will easily allow you to show one "group" at a time.
I thought the old Numbers categories were sometimes convenient, but in the "nice but not necessary" category. There are other ways to accomplish the same effect that aren't too difficult and work across platform.

Thank you for your suggestions, but it looks like I should think about purchasing of MS Excel for Mac for my tasks.
