How is a 6 digit password "complicated"?

Don't think I mentioned a 6 digit password, but a password that complies with my corporate's guidance. That is 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. But why would you care?

Having to enter the password is simply annoying after purchasing a device which has touchID to prevent exactly that!

    You didn’t.

But that is the new requirement with iOS 9.

So why are you talking about it here?

You should complain to your company as they set the requirement to use a password and they have the requirement for the password security

Having to enter the password is simply annoying after purchasing a device which has touchID to prevent exactly that!

So either don’t use it with your company or tell your company to change their policy.

The only thing I can think of is this is some security thing uploaded from the company.  This is my phone but I sign onto Exchange to be able to retrieve and send work email.  I have asked local IT and they tell me it's not them.

    It IS your company.

If you have an Outlook/Exchange account from your company on the iPhone, then you have a profile loaded onto your iPhone and it is set to require a passcode every 48 hours.

If you remove this profile, this 48 hour requirement will go away.

Not true. I've been seeing this randomly, and I do not have a corporate Exchange email account on my iPad. I used the iPad at 11 PM yesterday, this morning I got the message that a password is required after 48 hours. It has happened several times, randomly. It does not happen every day.

    Chris,

this is NOT a problem with any corporate profile, although a good guess I had at first myself, but then:

    a) It happened to a fried too who uses his phone privately only.

    b) Also my corporate profile was not changed and the iPhone5s never did ask for they password except after a restart. Only after loading iOS9.0.x it happens exactly if 48h passed since the restart. It appears as if the 48h counter is not reset even when using the phone.

    c) My company confirmed already that there is no such policy to enter the password every 48h, nor was the policy changed recently.

I'm on a 5s - iOS 9 and have seen this bogus '48hr' requirement recently too. Hence why I'm here.

There seems to be a lot more evidence of 'phoning home' recently too. I'm on El Capitan on a 2008 Mac Pro and I'm constantly getting alerts via Little Snitch that point to apple services. To the point that I'm thinking that this '48hr' thing might be some kind of remote request..?

    on a different note

a password that complies with my corporate's guidance. That is 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. But why would you care?

Chris CA - It's being mentioned here because having to re-enter our password is a consequence of the problem that was originally raised. Also, you made a rather flippant assumption (six digit), and rudely asked an off-topic question that helps no-one (how is it complicated) - then dismissed the answer you were given as irrelevant. Not to mention the fact that you didn't seem to be grasping the conversation in the first instance, but insisted on imposing you views on the thread.

This is why you're being perceived as defensive, in case you've not figured that out yet.

I made no assumption at all.

    iOS 9 has a 6 dgit password.

The password your company requires is what they require. it has nothing to do with Apple.

and rudely asked an off-topic question that helps no-one (how is it complicated)

    It wasn’t rude at all.

    - then dismissed the answer you were given as irrelevant.

Again, the password your company requires has nothing to do with Apple.

If you have corporate profile, then talk to you company about the password.

If you don’t have a company profile, it is 6 digits (or you can make it more).

I understand this 48 hour thing seems to have cropped up as an issue with iOS9 but 850T5 seems to be getting hung up on how complicate his company's password requirements (not Apple’s) are.

The  6 digit password is for new iPhones, or for those who manually opt in for a 6 digit password.

I upgraded to iOS 9 and still use a 4 digit passcode for my iPhone6.

Chris CA seems to want to go on and on about "the password your company requires" and "your corporate profile", but I and other people here don't have that issue with their iPhones.  My iPhone is only connected to me and nothing else.

Which is all irrelevant anyway, since the relevant issue is requiring a passcode every 48 hours.  I have that same issue.

I'm wondering, that since Apple thinks the 4 digit passcode is insufficient security, that is the reason why this 48 hour passcode entry issue is now happening?  Maybe if we opt in to the 6 digit passcode, it will go away?  If so, why can't Apple simply state this?

No, it wont go away. I have a 'complex' password of letters and numbers, upper & lower case etc. (by my own volition, C-CA) and I've seen the 48 hour request twice today.

I changed up from the 4 digit when I decided to use touch ID - it seemed pointless to use this new technology, which could be over-ridden by a simple PIN. I deliberately made my password fairly complex, which is why this 48hr bug is already a pain.

    No he doesn’t.
He understands this looks like an iOS 9 issue. Read his post just before yours.

You should learn to follow a thread correctly.

850T5 complained about how his company had complicated password requirements.

Don't think I mentioned a 6 digit password, but a password that complies with my corporate's guidance. That is 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.

and with iOS9 seemingly to randomly require the password before 48 hours, it is an issue for those with corporate profiles requiring complex passwords.

No need to respond to me or get defensive.

I understand there my be an issue with iOS9 requiring passwords before 48 hours.

Add me to the list of users having this problem. For me it's also intermittent and only started after iOS 9. I think it's happened twice since I upgraded (I'm now on 9.02).

    Chris CA,

Yout seem to be either a troll, or don't like people. In either case, you haven't really added to the conversation. There is an issue that you have finally acknowledged. Thank you. Now, it would be great if someone could come up with a solution.

For myself, I am seeing this on three different devices, only one of which is in a corporate environment.  Too all of you out there with the same issue, it only gets resolved if we work together ourselves, or make enough noise that Apple listens
