Oct 12, 2015 10:26 PM in response to kvance83by Faterson,I'm also seeing this on 3 various devices, none is corporate, no Exchange, no profiles, etc. etc. It only started with iOS 9.0.1 or 9.0.2. A clear-cut bug.

Oct 13, 2015 2:51 AM in response to kvance83by Lawrence Finch,It's only happened to me twice, and only on an iPad, never on my iPhone. Most of the time Touch ID unlocks it just fine.

I have experienced this issue as well on an iPhone 6s running iOS 9.0.2

Oct 16, 2015 2:16 PM in response to kvance83by technonut,Mine has done it for the past two weeks, last time was this morning. I'm on 9.0.2 on an iPhone 6 Plus (not 6s). Getting really frustrating that Apple is introducing more and more of these types of annoyances in their software. Is this the kind of stuff that Infosys works on for Apple? Or does Apple do iOS coding in-house? Meanwhile, I'm also holding off on the El Capitan update on my mac pro and MacBooks, due to Apple's utter incompetence with first-release operating systems. I love the products, I just don't love them under Tim Cook, they seem to be getting sloppier with every release. Where's another Steve Jobs when we need him (or her), to demand better performance and quality out of Apple's products?

Oct 17, 2015 12:39 AM in response to kvance83by GuyCalledPete,I woke up to this message this morning and I certainly used my phone yesterday.
I have an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.0.2
I also choose to use a complex password instead of 6-digit (I don't think Chris CA realises this is an option for regular users, not just corporate accounts) specifically to get the most secure device with the convenience of fingerprint unlock. This means entering an >20 character password on the (hopefully) rare occasions I need to.
Amy additional and unnecessary requirements to enter my password are exceptionally frustrating.
In addition to this, any "requirement" to enter a password that doesn't make sense throws a red flag of "is this device compromised", as asking for a password is a great way to get it. The requirement states I need to enter the passcode every 48 hours but I know for sure it's been longer than 48 hours since I last entered the passcode and I know for sure I unlocked my device within the last 12 hours.
I hope the issue is acknowledged as a bug soon so I can rest my mind that it's not any other kind of issue (compromised device).

Oct 17, 2015 5:38 AM in response to GuyCalledPeteby gfs2008,I'm not sure if this is a security 'feature' or some testing software bug that was left in the release version.
But I seemed to have found the solution. I did a backup of my phone to iTunes on my Mac, did a clean install of system 9.0.2 and then restored my iPhone from my backup. It seems to have solved the 48 hour password request problem; hasn't happened again and it's been over 10 days. Hope this helps you.

Oct 18, 2015 2:55 AM in response to gfs2008by Anne Mc,it may just be coincidence gfs2008. It hadn't happened to me since 4th October but it has happened again this morning!

+1 Agree. Reminds me of Love & Logic approach to parenting -- treat him with empathy and let him figure it out on his own. We will all benefit.
This his has been a useful discussion, which will hopefully go away with iOS 9.1.

Oct 18, 2015 7:27 AM in response to 94goldenbearby juhook,I've now seen this "48 hours" message on three different days in a little more than two weeks--once on iOS9.0.1 and twice since I upgraded to 9.0.2. But actually I've seen the message a total of six times, because it always shows up on both of my Touch ID devices (an iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6) on the same day. I use both devices many times every day, so nothing like 48 hours ever elapses between one unlocking and the next. The apparent synchrony of the message on the two devices makes me wonder if it's somehow tied to my Apple ID.

Oct 18, 2015 9:28 AM in response to juhookby why do I have to have an alias, this is a bit out there - but a few weeks ago I changed my Google password. Various Google services are tied into my Apple ID, and the 48n hr nag started happening to me a few weeks ago too.
Today (and last week too, but I dismissed it back then without looking into it) I had a request to re-enter my Google password in my Apple ID settings. I've updated it today, but it's got me wondering if the 48 hr thing isn't somehow tied to the fact that the ID wasn't connecting correctly to services - perhaps the password request is triggered by a third party service that has reason to suspect the Apple ID is compromised?
oh - in response in gfs2008 - I recently did an erase/back-up restore and it didn't go away. In fact it cropped up during one of the restore restarts! :/

Thank you.
You should learn to ignore comments in a public forum if you don’t like them.
Also, you responded to a post from May 2014, when this wasn’t an issue with iPhone 6s running iOS 9.0.2.
and the Phone 6 was still 6 months from being released!
An employer profile was exactly the issue on the first page of this thread (which was then resurrected 17 months later when it seems a bug in iOS 9 appeared)...
Thank you.

but it started with the employer adding a profile on iPhone 5S and iOS 8 then the tread was pulled up because someone was not paying attention.

Same here, several days without this false 48h password request, but this morning it happened again (iPhone 5s, iOS9.0.2). It did it despite using the phone all day yesterday. Initially I saw it only about 48h after I restarted the phone, but this is indeed different and somewhat intermittent too. Hope this helps to debug the issue.

YOU are the one who doesn't know what you are talking about. The original post was over a year ago. Long before iOS 9. The problem then WAS caused by a corporate email account that installed a security profile. The problem you have is totally, completely, unrelated to the problem reported in May of last year. And even in iOS 9 a corporate security profile can require password entry periodically. It's usually a bad idea to post a new problem to a "stale" thread, for exactly the reason here - it causes confusion. It would be much more useful, and lead to less confusion, if you would start a new discussion for a new problem.
And yes, there is an issue with iOS 9 requiring passwords at random times with the "48 hour" message. And there's no solution at this time.
