can anyone tell me how to overcome error 4014 on my iPad?

My iPad seems to be stuck in recovery mode and will not let me restore. The screen went blue (which happened a few times) so I quickly tried to put into sleep mode, but it wouldn't do anything. I held the sleep and home to put into recovery and went ipad went black, never to turn on again. When I try to restore it tells me the ipad is in recovery mode and needs to be restored (never anything on the ipad screen), so I select OK to restore, it goes through extracting software and then once it tries to connect with ipad again I get the unknown 4014 error. The only weird thing that I can recall is the first time it did this, the ipad got very hot on the backside and I was on the amtrack train using their wifi. Any ideas??

Hello jenipha,

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPad. It sounds like you are seeing error 4014 when trying to restore your iPad. If you haven't yet, I recommend following the steps below when getting error 4014:

  1. Install the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Make sure your computer is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after you restart.
  4. Restore using another USB cable.
  5. Restore your device on another computer.

If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your device, contact Apple for support.
