itunes does not recognize ipod

I suddenly get a prompt that saya my iTunes is not recognizing my ipod. I tried un/reinstalling iTunes as it suggests, but problems remain. I tried restoring my ipod to factory settings (via another computer) but still, the problem remains. Also, my computer does not recognise my ipod as a new "drive" when I plug it in, yet, I get the "tones" when I connect/diconnect. Somebody.. please help!

Hello tmhffmn,

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod. You have taken some really good troubleshooting steps already. I found a couple of articles that have additional steps that I think might help.

First, if you are specifically getting the error, "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again,” I recommend following the steps in this article:

iPod nano: Error message saying that iPod 'could not be identified properly'

If you are not getting that specific error or if the steps in that article did not resolve the issue with your iPod, I recommend continuing with this article:

iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
