Q: Is my Apple ID and pass code the same thing?  Never been asked for a pass code before.  Was asked for a pass code to install an operating system update.  Thanks, New iPad user.

Is my Apple ID and Passcode the same thing?  Never been asked this question before.  Was asked when I tried to install an Operating System update.  Help, newer iPad user.

No. The passcode is the four digit number you enter when first turning on your iPad or when waking it from sleep after an Autolock. If you cannot remember your passcode see this Apple support page.
